Questions a potential H10 partner should ask themselves:

    A) What’s in it for me? What would I want out of H10?

    B) What would I be doing day to day? What am I capable of doing for H10 ventures everyday?
Check to see if what your are willing to put in (Question B) deserves your answer to Question A.

    C) Am I capable of being a coach, or am I just a player?
Jordan is not a Phil Jackson level coach (yet)!

    D) Can I afford to act “altruistically” in the short-term, to get “paid” in the long-term?
Remember – H10 is a Golden Gate Bridge type of endeavor.

    E) What do I bring to the table? Experience, time, money relationships? And what’s its value?

    F) Do I really give a damn that other took time to help me along the way? Or do I just want to make a few phone calls a week on behalf of H10 venture, take a couple of lunches and expect a huge financial return 24 months from now?
If you answered – No and Yes, H10 is not the right place for you…

Why will be so important to H10

Diaspora Reports Progress In Its Quest To Build An Open Facebook Alternative

I love this description of history, “It’s been exactly one month after Diaspora, which aims to become an open Facebook alternative (much like OneSocialWeband others) raised just over $200,000 in funding from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and others through Kickstarter.” Ok, Zuckerburg gave them money? Nice….

Raising 170,000+, equity free $, over a weekend is clearly a rare event, but amazing none the less. I’m sure that could just as impactful for H10 ventures if presented to the right audience, at the right time around the right venture.

Also see this Crunchbase description of the funding process for Diaspora:

Diaspora is a project begun by four students at NYU’s Courant Institute. They propose to build an open-source, distributed social network as an alternative to companies such as Facebook. The team decided to raise $10,000 using Kickstarter by June 1. In light of Facebook’s recent moves concerning privacy, the team has received far more support than expected. With news coverage by Fox on May 11th and a writeup from the New York Times on May 12th exposure took off. The company had raised more than $178,000 by May 21st.

    Quote of the Day:

“She’s (Lauryn Hill) one of slickest rappers ever: Her rhymes are dexterous, spiritual, hilarious, surprising.” – Zoe Chace, NPR

    dexterous |ˈdekst(ə)rəs| (also dextrous)
demonstrating neat skill, esp. with the hands : dexterous accordion playing.
    • mentally adroit; clever : power users are dexterous at using software, rather than creating it.

Inspirational. Written from the perspective a “real”, former VC; but worth a read. H10 will be a Mirco-Micro-VC, but the trend is interesting. I’m sure that some of these Micro-VCs will be the biggest fans of H10 – almost like a prep school for their Ivy League college. Great job Rob Go .

So what needs to be done this week for H10?

    1) We need to build our Database of Friends of H10

    2) We need to build our version of Kickstarter – maybe it should be called firstin?

    Or First Ones In –

    3) We need to plan our December event.

    4) We need to start gathering our code base and other intellectual property
